It's really important to eat well while you're pregnant, otherwise you could be depriving your child of nutrients he needs. Make an appointment with your doctor in case you need and supplement, you may be at risk of developing amaemia.

I have never been thin, but since falling pregant 4.5 months ago I have not been eating properly due to relationship stress and nausea and have subsequently lost 12-14 lbs, all the pregnancy calenders and books are telling me that I should have gained at least 8 pounds by now. Is there something wrong with me and will this have a major effect on my unborn child?

I would definitely see a doctor. I'm not doctor, but that could possibly mean something is wrong with the baby. Go to the doctor. They'll probably do an exam to make sure everything is already and if it all is, then I guess you are just unique.

The same thing happened to my sister and she had amazingly perfect labors, and two adorable children both healthy, and herself as well turned out healthy. Sometimes these things happen, but just in case, just keep up with regular doctor visits, you can never be too careful with a little one.
