My son wearing tights

Hi ,

My 13 year old son kept moaning about how cold it was over the New Year weekend and his sister (15) asked him if he wanted to borrow some of her tights to help him keep warm. He took her up on the offer,- and to be fair to him, he did ask me if it was ok, I just said it was up to him and that I didnt mind.

A month on, he still often wears them under his jeans when indoors.

He is generally sensible for his age,and seems happy enough. I have asked him if he wears tights outside the house which he says he doesnt, and that he wouldnt - and that he just finds them to be comfortable and warm.

As such I still do not have any problem with this, It's no big deal imo.

I just wondered what other mums though about it, please.

I dont think theres a problem

I suppose its crossing the gender barrier a bit. But i think he obviously just likes the feeling of being warm and snug. He's not trying to hide it or anything.

How about buying him a pair of longjohns instead. You can get trendy ones in ski/sports shops. And then he could wear them outside the house aswel without any embarrasment.

Yes, I think you are right, DS is just wanting to keep warm, as we all are trying to..!!
He had since told me that he does find them cosy and warm, and can I buy him some more please.!

The day before you sent your message I was up Sainsburys for the monthly shop so I bought 3 packs of multipack black opaques there, one pack for me and one each for DD and DS.

And yesterday I was able to get into town so I got him some thermal long-johns for wearing outside.
I'm perfectly ok with him wearing tights indoors.
