Hi livvjay!
You posted this ages ago so I don't know if you will read this!
This is a horrid thing to go through as a friend or relation of someone who self harms. Self harming is often a way for someone with psychological pain to express it in a physical way and it sounds like your friend may need some help from a Doctor to find the best way for her to deal with this. If she has confided in you then that is a great step forward for her as she is already reaching out for help. You won't make things worse so don't worry about that and just being there to listen if she wants to talk is a HUGE help. Can you suggest she rings something like careline crisis line
Careline Crisis Line Tel: 020 8514 1177 confidential counselling service for young people
They could help her get to a place where she can share it with her family and seek more help.
If her self harming is really dangerous or you feel getting lots worse or she is talking about suicide then you MUST tell an adult who you trust so they can help her.
I really sympathise with the position you are in as I have been there myself. Feel free to pm me if you want to chat things over.
Love and hugs Tracey XXXXXXX
