"Adoption of a child with a living parent"

I think this is her mistake, and this will haunt her, the child and the childs father forever.

It is tradition in african families for children to go live with relatives or friends who can better care for them for long periods of time, but they are not 'adopted' - they still 'belong' to their parents and eventually come back.

It is likely the childs father gave permission to have the child live with her kind of using this practise as a reference - but I already hear reports that he wants to speak to the boy to see how he is doing etc. In essence, Madonna must understand she had adopted both the son and his father. If she doesn't include the faterh in the boy's life, it would be cruel and unfair. Especially when she is as high profile as she is - the father will always be reminded of his 'lost' son unless there was some form of inclusion in his life.

Her life would have been a whole lot easier if she had fallen in love with a child without living parents...
But I guess we shall see how it all pans out.

Whole thread for the following message:

"Madonna adopting from malawi - celebrity adoption"

Have heard Madonna is going to adopt a Malawian baby - probably rubbish! It's a great idea though, but you get the feeling that adoption is just another trend for celebrities and that if "normal" people wanted to adopt kids from 3rd world countries it would be much harder, which is a shame. I hope adopted kids with celebrity parents don't spend their whole lives with nannies though.

it's difficult to judge because there are kids who need adopting in this country as well, but that's not as 'exotic' I guess. It's official now about Madonna adopting, right? There's no reason why she shouldn't though cos celebrities have been adopting for ages, no-one bothered Angelina Jolie when she adopted Maddox and Zahara but because it's Madonna everyone suddenly thinks it's really controversial. World gone mad!!

Yes actually she does seem to have got a lot of unfair press coverage. At least it's got people talking about the problem of AIDS orphans in Malawi though.
