Hi

You will have parental responsibility when the baby is born, what your partner could do is make an application through the Civil Courts for parental responsibility. Go to your local County Court now and ask at the court office whether a C1 (this is a general application) would be in order, however thinking about it you want your partner to have parental responsibility so presumably there would be an application you could use to request this order with consent. Anyway, I don't think its a big problem ask at the court office, they are incredibly helpful offer free information and will help fill the forms out and the court fee will be very little

Good luck

Hi i am a lesbian and i have been in a relationship with my partner for over 6 yrs now. We have been trying through artificial insemination to have a baby and have now finally fallen pregnant.

My post is proberly going to annoy a few people who do not agree with this and your comments are welcomed however i am after general advise.

Our baby is not due for many months yet but we want to know how we go about adoption. I am obviously the birth mother but want my partner to adopt the baby just incase anything ever happens to me but also so she has the same rights over our child as i do.

Would it be the same process as a straight couple with a step parent or not?

We are in a very stable relationship and i am home all the time but my partner works full time and supports and provides for me very well.

Any help or advice would be fantastic thankyou xxxx

Hi Jo, I'm sorry I don't have the answers to your questions but I just want to say that I think it's great what you're doing. There are so many babies born to parents who aren't in a stable relationship so for two people like you and your partner who really love each other and want to bring a baby into this world... I say good on ya! Best of luck with the pregnancy! Kat xxx
