there are also newspapers such as be my parent ..they also have a web site that has pictures and profiles of children waiting to be adopted. If you find this emotive and are very senistive dont go there as it will break your heart.

Some local authorities social services also put children on their wed sites

can only speak for the uk..( if from another country do internet search)

Most people approch the social services department of your local authority but there are agencies out there such as Banardos and Catholic childrens socitey ( you dont have to be catholic) the agencies tend to get more as they work across the country and the local authorities tend to be children from from their area but not always.

It tends to be slow process and is quite indepth. They have to write a home study report that covers all aspect of your life and background. Some people quite enjoy them while others find them intrusive.

there are also a number of check such as medical and police checks being the main two but there are others. They will also take referernces.

If you are consdiering from aboard there are sites that will help and advise you on this but the homestudy will still need to be completed.

lots of luck

I think they're meant to be really strict on it, I mean you can't let just anyone adopt a kid!!!
