Credit check

Hi everyone,

Just starting to look into all the ins and outs of adoption for the future. I've had a lot of answers from the local council but was wondering if the authorities do any sort of financial checks other than you and your partner's gross income? Do they run credit checks for example? Is there anything else that anyone could offer to give us a bit for information too? It would be really very appreciated. Thank you!

As far as I can remember they don't do any kind of credit check on you. Wealth isn't an issue, money doesn't make you a better parent.

When my husband and I adopted 8 years ago my husband wasn't a high earner and they knew that I was gonna be giving up work completely, so I wouldn't be earning.

The only checks I remember being done are police checks.
